The Indian women’s cricket team deserves all the limelight they are receiving. The team now has been judged as the "Team of the Year" at the inaugural edition of Indian Sports Honours held in Mumbai on Saturday (Nov 11).
The Awards recognise the contributions of various sportspersons in the country.
An elated captain Mithali Raj, who also lifted the Indian Sportswoman of the Year (Team Sports) award at the ceremony, took to social media to share her happiness with the fans.
The Indian players gave a stellar performance against England at Lord’s earlier this year which put women players in the frontline.
Though the women lost the game by a whisker their smart strategies certainly exceeded expectations and won the hearts of millions across the nation.

However, Indian women have come so far in recognition and are getting dues paid. They competed against all major nominees -- Indian junior hockey team, Indian men’s cricket team, Indian men’s hockey team, Indian kabaddi teams and the women’s hockey team – and having outperformed them all to be awarded the all-year rounder of the year.
