Do women watch porn? The answer is YES! A thousand times yes... However, our so-called sanskari mentality doesn't permit us to believe so. For most of the society, women have no right to indulge in fantasy, and having porn preferences? Oh dear lord! How could you make her uncomfortable by asking that out loud?
Oh boy, your mansplained world is limited to what it aims to believe or think. But women today do not shy away from accepting the simple truth of life. We do like watching porn.
In defence of that statement (to those sanskari lads, you may wanna cover your ears for this), a recent study by a Harvard economist has revealed that not only do women like watching porn, but even choose from a pile featuring violence against women.

Shattering stereotypes in front of your eyes, isn't it? Seth Stephens-Davidowitz is the PhD from Harvard, who recently authored a book titled 'Everybody Lies'. This book is showing the world what has been unseen until now. It reveals the browsing history on the internet. What people are mostly searching on Google when no one's watching, well in short everyone's deep dark secrets they don't want the world to know about.

"Porn featuring violence against women is also extremely popular among women. It is far more popular among women than men. I hate saying that because misogynists seem to love this fact. Fantasy life isn't always politically correct," he said.
But this raises a question to why today's women, who are rocking in the workforce, taking control over their life, career and family, would prefer watching porn that dominates them?
Dr Avani Tiwari, psychiatrist, sex and relationships expert, told TOI, "Firstly, porn is a means of fantasy fulfilment. Because we are getting modern and women are seeking equality and power, watching porn is no more taboo. Realization of power in real life is balanced by submission in fantasy. Women prefer to be in command in real life and to be controlled in fantasy. Also, watching porn in which one is being dominated, abused and tied up doesn't have any consequences in real life. It's fantasy. It ends there. You watch it and get away with it."
"Secondly, it refers back to the millennia of women's subjugation. The concept of a 'collective consciousness' where women have faced subjugation for many millenniums. As a result, being submissive has become a part of their primal selves, their basic instinct. A decade or two of equality isn't enough to entirely replace history," Dr Avani added.
According to the analysis by Stephens-Davidowitz, "The rate at which women watch violent porn is roughly the same in every part of the world. It isn't correlated with how women are treated."
The study had been undertaken as per sexuality and included analyzing data from sites like Pornhub. His analysis claims that 20 per cent of women watch lesbian porn and that shows rough or explicit sexual violence against them.
