Teen Arrested For Sending Woman's Morphed Images To Fiance

A 19-year-old was arrested from Bihar for allegedly creating a fake social media profile and sending morphed images of a woman to her fiance and family.

The accused has been identified as Shubham Kumar. The woman filed a complaint in March that her fiance and her family had received morphed images of her and vulgar messages on social media. The incident led to the engagement being called off.

The police investigation revealed that the accused had created a fake social media profile and allegedly sent her fiance and family the messages.

Woman's Morphed Photos Sent To Fiance

The accused, Kumar, said he was in a relationship with the woman's sister-in-law who asked him to ensure the engagement is cancelled. Thus, Kumar created a fake social media account to send morphed images to the fiance to defame the woman.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) M Harsh Vardhan said that objectionable material was recovered from the accused's phone. The police will continue their investigation to determine the woman's sister-in-law's role in the incident.

Recently, a cab driver was arrested for allegedly hacking women's social media accounts and threatening to upload their morphed images on pornographic websites.

The accused, identified as Vinod Kishanrao Mundhe extorted money from at least 24 women. He would threaten to put a woman's morphed photos on porn sites and demand money to remove them. Three women complained to the police and the accused was arrested from Latur, Maharashtra.

Two years ago, on June 12, 2021, a 19-year-old girl reportedly died by suicide after she was blackmailed by morphed images. The accused and his mother were arrested by the police in connection with the death.

The accused, Kesava Kumar threatened to morph her photographs and release them on social media unless she gave him money. The deceased paid him over 35 thousand rupees but Kumar continued to demand money.

The Coimbatore woman reportedly died by suicide due to continuous harassment.
