The Ghaziabad Police said that a 23-year-old lady was reportedly killed by her relatives on suspicion of stealing valuables on Wednesday. They also stated that they had apprehended eight suspects for interrogation.
Police identified the deceased as Shamina, a Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, native. According to the authorities, a murder case has been reported to the Crossings Republik police station, but no arrests have been made as of yet. Additionally, nothing has been found of the stolen jewels.
Woman Tortured To Death By Relatives
According to the police, Shamina travelled to Ghaziabad to attend the birthday celebration of Ramesh Kumar, a young relative of hers, in the Siddharth Vihar neighbourhood of the city.
The Assistant Commissioner of Police mentioned that after the party when everyone had returned, Ramesh and Hina (his wife), found that two gold bangles were missing from their home. When they were unable to find the things, they started interrogating their family members and soon came to the conclusion that Shamina, who had already gone for Saharanpur, had taken the jewels.
On Tuesday night, Shamina went back to their Ghaziabad home.
During the nights between Tuesday and Wednesday, Ramesh and his family made the decision to confront and question Shamina. ACP further proclaimed that they beat her with rods and sticks and it seemed that the woman passed away at night.
As per reports, the accused played loud music to drown out Shamina's screams and cries for help. The tragic incident only came to light after a neighbour grew suspicious and alerted the cops as the music had been playing for 2 days straight.
A nearby neighbour notified Shamina's sister Saniya, 20, about the event on Wednesday morning, causing her to call the police.
At the Crossings Republik police station, an FIR was filed in response to Saniya's accusation. In her complaint, Saniya said that she was also physically assaulted when she inquired about the event and that one of the suspects, Rukhsar, changed Shamina's blood-stained clothing.
In addition to that, she said that they assaulted her along with her cousin Mani when she found out about the loss, her sister's clothes were smeared with blood, and she passed away from terrible injuries. Then, to conceal the crime, Rukhsar changed out of these clothing and wore other ones, according to Saniya's statement in the FIR. She said that Shamina was reportedly beaten and tortured by the eight suspects from 8 p.m. on Tuesday until 3 a.m. on Wednesday, after which her body was allegedly deposited in a room on the terrace of Ramesh's home.
