Woman Techie Chained, Slashed By Jilted Lover Over Marriage Refusal

In a shocking incident, a 24-year-old software engineer was burnt to death on her birthday eve by her classmate who had undergone a sex change operation to marry her. The incident happened in Tamil Nadu where the classmate chained the techie, slashed her with a blade and then burnt her alive. Read on to learn more about the case 

The woman, who goes by the name R Nandhini, was killed by her former classmate, 26-year-old Vetrimaran, in Thalambur near Kelambakkam in Chennai. Eight months back, Nandhini secured a job in Chennai and started living there with her uncle. Vetrimaran had lured Nandhini by inviting her to a birthday surprise which turned into the most horrifying day of her life. As per police reports, Vetrimaran blindfolded Nandhini and tortured her to death.

No indication of sexual assault- Police 

"They were friends and were living together in Chennai. No indication yet of any sexual assault. Whether Vetrimaran had displayed violent tendencies earlier is not clear. An investigation is on," Tambaram Police Commissioner Amalraj told NDTV.

Investigations revealed that the duo studied together in a girls' school in Madurai and had worked together in a private IT firm in Thoraipakkam. Nandhini continued her friendship even when Vetrimaran underwent a sex change operation and changed name from Pandi Maheshwari to Vetrimaran. He had proposed to Nandhini but she refused his proposal but maintained her friendship with him.

The possible reason behind the crime

According to the police, the reason behind the gruesome murder was Vetrimaran's suspicion that she had developed an interest in someone else. 

When the local residents found Nandhini, she was still chained and burning. They rushed her to the hospital where she died. In a swift action, the Police have taken Vetrimaran into judicial custody imposing charges of murder on him.
