In a bizarre case in Gujarat’s Mehsana, a woman got her husband arrested for domestic violence seven times in the last ten years. However, every time, she would step in as the guarantor and arrange for his bail.
The Times of India reported that the couple, Premchand Mali and Sonu, had been married since 2001 and were living in Kadi town in Mehsana district.
Woman Gets Husband Arrested And Bailed Out
The couple had initially been living happily, but things went south in their relationship in 2014 when Sonu filed a case against Mali, claiming that he had physically assaulted her. This led to the court directing him to pay her alimony of Rs. 2000 per month in 2015.
Mali, who worked as a daily wage labourer, struggled to pay the alimony amount, which led to his arrest, and he was imprisoned for five months. Interestingly, his wife stepped in and bailed him out. Although the couple lived separately, they were constantly involved in a complicated relationship filled with fights, separation, and reconciliation.
Over time, the fights started getting messier, even though the couple got back together. The TOI reported that from 2016 to 2018, Sonu had gotten Mali arrested every year, accusing him of assault. However, every time she bailed him out.
The news outlet also pointed out that Mali was arrested in 2019 and 2020 after failing to pay alimony, but Sonu rescued him every time.
Recently, Mali was arrested earlier this year for not paying the alimony amount but was once again bailed out by Sonu on July 4, and the duo reportedly returned to their home in Kadi.
This time, when they returned home, Mali found that his wallet and mobile phone were missing, and he confronted Sonu about the same. She denied that she didn’t have any idea where it was, which again led to an argument between them. The verbal argument escalated to a physical fight, and both of them reportedly assaulted each other.
Finally, Mali left the home to go live with his mother in Patan. He also filed a complaint with the police against Sonu on July 7, accusing her and their son of harming him.
