Yesim Demir, aged 39, plummeted over 100 feet off the cliffside in Canakkale, northwestern Turkey, on July 6, as reported by The New York Post.
Demir's fiancé, Nizamettin Gursu, had briefly returned to their car to retrieve celebratory food and drinks after proposing. Upon hearing her scream, he rushed back to the cliffside and discovered that she had fallen over the edge. The couple had chosen the spot for its romantic ambience, intending to create a cherished memory after the proposal. Gursu recounted the unfortunate incident, stating that everything happened suddenly as she lost her balance and fell down.

Following the tragic incident, the authorities promptly closed off the area and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Yesim Demir's fatal fall.
Friends of Demir expressed their concerns to local media, highlighting that the location where the accident occurred is a popular spot for watching sunsets. However, they raised awareness about the poor condition of the roads and the lack of safety measures at the edge of the cliff. They emphasised the urgent need for installing a fence and implementing necessary precautions to prevent similar accidents in the future.
