Actor Jaya Bhattacharya Saves Dog From Acid Attack; Stray Loses Eye

A 35-year-old woman in Mumbai allegedly attacked a start dog with acid at midnight for troubling cats that she feeds in her apartment. 

This incident came to light after actor Jaya Bhattacharya rescued the dog and shared details about the attack and animal cruelty on social media.

Jaya Bhattacharya Saves A Dog From Acid Attack

A horrifying incident took place in Mumbai's Malad as a stray dog called Brownie was attacked with acid. The acid caused Brownie severe burns and cost the dog one eye. 

A 35-year-old Malad resident had allegedly thrown acid on the dog at midnight for 'troubling' the cats she feeds in her building. Jaya Bhattacharya came forward to rescue the dog to fetch an early treatment. Brownie is now admitted to a medical care unit by an NGO Thank You Earth where animals are rescued and treated.

The act was caught in the CCTV footage. The video revealed that the woman threw acid on Brownie when no one was around; the dog started running frantically in pain. The woman has denied all charges. 

The woman is identified as Sabista Ansari and an FIR report has been registered against her in Malvani Police Station on the basis of a complaint filed by the chairperson of the housing society. 

The woman is now charged with IPC Section 429 (mischief by killing or maiming cattle, etc., of any value or any animal of the value of fifty rupees), Section 119 of Maharashtra Police Act, (Animal cruelty punishment), and Section 11(1) prevention of cruelty against animal. 

Bhattacharya commented on the incident stating that what the members of society know the woman is a cat feeder and it is shocking that one who feeds cats can attack another animal. 

An auto driver Balasaheb Tukaram Bhagat in his complaint stated that he had seen Ansari chasing and scaring away Brownie several times when he used to play or chase cats. He said that Brownie has been living inside the building for 5 years while the woman has been living for several years in the building.
