The Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TSNAB) recently apprehended a woman involved in the illicit sale of marijuana in the vicinity of Nanakramguda, Hyderabad. The operation, conducted with precision and collaboration between TSNAB, Siddipet, and Cyberabad police, resulted in the seizure of a substantial quantity of ganja and an astonishing sum of ₹16 lakhs in cash.
The Operation
The meticulous operation by TSNAB, alongside local law enforcement agencies, unearthed the secretive activities of Nithu Bai, a well known figure in the illicit drug trade. Bai's residence, strategically located in Nanakramguda, served as a hub for dispensing ganja to consumers. Upon raiding her premises, authorities apprehended not only Bai but also ten customers actively engaged in illegal transactions, with seizure of the contraband, coupled with the significant cash haul.
During the raid, law enforcement officials seized a significant quantity of ganja along with ₹16 lakhs in cash from Nithu Bai's possession. Additionally, properties valued at ₹4 crore, believed to have been acquired through illicit means, were also confiscated by the authorities.
Prior Criminal History and Investigations
Nithu Bai's house was fortified with four sets of grills, presenting a challenge for the raiding team. However, despite the obstacles, the authorities managed to breach the defenses and uncover the hidden contraband. Nithu Bai had previously come under the radar of law enforcement agencies, with her detention under the Prevention of Dangerous Activities (PD) Act in 2021, coupled with the registration of approximately 20 cases across various police stations pertaining to drug trafficking.
Authorities are actively pursuing accountability not only for Nithu Bai but also for the consumers and suppliers involved in the illegal drug trade by collecting details regarding individuals purchasing ganja from Nithu Bai, as well as the identification of suppliers, in a quest to dismantle the entire network facilitating drug trafficking in the region.
The successful operation conducted by TSNAB, in collaboration with Siddipet and Cyberabad police, represents a victory in the ongoing battle against the scourge of drug trafficking. By dismantling illicit drug networks and apprehending key perpetrators will be imperative to curb the proliferation of illicit drug trade and uphold the rule of law
