In a viral Twitter thread, the Sikh man accused the husband of the Former Indian President of being suspicious about him because he is a "Sardar". Social media has reacted negatively to the remarks made by Pratibha Patil's husband.

In a viral Twitter thread, the Sikh man alleged that Former President Pratibha Patil's husband asked the security guard to keep an eye on his actions just because he was a "Sardar". The Sikh man quoted Devisingh Ransingh Shekhawat on Twitter as the Former President's husband mentioned, "Ispar Dhyan Rakho, Yeh Sardar Hai, Inka Bharosa Mat Karna."

The Sikh man explained the incident saying just as he came out of the Badminton Hall to attend a phone call, he was approached by Pratibha Patil's husband as he asked him not to click pictures to which he replied that he was there to play badminton. He further alleged by saying that Ransingh Shekhawat instructed the staff to keep an eye on his since he was a "sardar". The former President's husband further mentioned to the staff saying, "Yeh Sardaron Ka Bharosa Nahi Karna Kuch Bhi Kar Sakte Hain Yeh," These Sardars are not trustworthy, they can do anything. After which he left.

The Sikh man mentioned in his Twitter thread that he was stunned on his views about the community. He was disheartened that the country is not "worth living anymore" and the incident had left him speechless. He further expressed his displeasure over the fact that the staff too, did not pay any heed to the discriminating ideas of Ransingh Shekhawat, rather they succumbed to his ill ideology about the community as they accepted his orders. Former President Pratibha Patil's husband is getting backlash for his discriminating remarks over the Sikh community. As the Twitter thread accusing him of discrimination went viral, the netizens have cancelled his ideas about the Sikh community and have stood in support of the Sikh man.

A Twitter user extended his support towards the Sikh man saying, "I am very sorry. This is unfortunate. You your family and everyone else is a part of India. The husband of former president is wrong." Another user mentioned that India has always been proud of its Sikh community. She mentioned, "So sorry that you have had to face this. What a country India is becoming; hate, animosity, intolerance are more the norm than the exception these days. India has always been proud of its Sikh community."

Furthermore, some users also criticised the special treatment of the officials as it weakens the very being of a democracy. "When people and officials started treating the gubernatorial appointees as royalties, this is the state we have been reduced to. End this ceremonial posts like President, Governor and Lt Governor in India. In a peoples democracy they don't serve any purpose," wrote a user. Another user reminded the wronged Sikh man of how the Sikh community stands to help out those in need saying, "Every community has a stereo type. I think for Sardars it’s that, they should be trusted and if in trouble one should find a Sardar. They will help to their best ability."
