Vijaya Gadde, a top US-based lawyer and a policy executive at Twitter is in news after being credited to be the force behind a permanent ban on US President Donald Trump's Twitter account. The decision made by the social media giant came on January 8, after indications that Trump's posts might have encouraged the rioters behind the US Capitol attack.
Meanwhile, the 40-year-old Vijaya Gadde, Twitter's Legal, Policy, and Trust and Safety issues has gained worldwide attention after this bold move of the social networking platform.
Here's what you should know about Vijaya Gadde:
1. Vijaya Gadde currently holds the position of Chief Legal Officer at Twitter. She has been working at the company for the past nine years. Gadde started out at Twitter as Director of the legal department. Two years into her job, she got promoted to the General Counsel.
2. Gadde is also a board member at other corporate companies like Mercy Corps and is the co-founder of Angels- an investment collective that back start-ups. The investment company that was established in 2015 aims to help ensure that women receive equal compensation at successful companies.

3. Vijaya Gadde was born in India and had moved to the US as a child. While she grew up in Texas, her father worked as a chemical engineer at oil refineries in the Gulf of Mexico. Her family then moved to the East Coast and she completed her schooling in New Jersey.
4. She did her graduation from Cornell University and New York University School of Law.
5. Vijaya Gadde has been featured in several leading US publications for her work at Twitter. The Politico described her as "the most powerful social media executive you've never heard of". Instyle magazine listed her in "The Badass 50 2020: Meet the women who are changing the world."
