American filmmaker Veena Sud will be the showrunner for Amazon's upcoming web series, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, based on the books by novelist Stieg Larsson.
The series will focus on the character of Lisbeth Salander in the books, according to The Hindu. The mystery series is not new to Sud, who has worked in the development and production of many movies and TV series in the dark crime and mystery drama genre, according to Variety.

Sud's promotion as showrunner is a welcome change of pace for the show, which has been in development since May 2020- though there was no showrunner reported to be working on the show. According to Variety, "It was originally reported to be a new standalone story about one of the novel’s main characters, Lisbeth Salander, but current plot details remain under wraps."
While the release date has not been finalised, one can only hope that the series will be released on streaming platforms soon!
