Vandana Singh made headlines after she left the Indian National Congress(INC) party just a day before the commencement of state elections in Uttar Pradesh. She has joined Bhartiya Janata Party after her exit from INC.
She cited the inefficiency and negligible involvement of Congress's high command as a reason for her exit, as per reports.
Who Is Vandana Singh?
She was made the poster girl for the Congress campaign of "Ladki Hoon Lad Sakti Hoon" in the upcoming state legislative assembly elections of 2022. The campaign strives to bring more women into the domain of politics as promised by Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
Singh also served as the Vice President of the Uttar Pradesh Central Mahila Congress.
Her exit from the Congress party comes soon after the another poster girl from the same campaign- Priyanka Maurya. She accused Congress of using her face, name, and social media followers for the campaign. She was not given any ticket in the state election by Party which disgruntled her.

Many have alleged inefficient leadership for leaving the party. Singh gave the reason for "negligible involvement of the high command" in the upcoming state elections. As a result of this, Vandana Singh joined Bhartiya Janata Party on February 9, 2022.
As per Singh, the party gave the opportunity to the new entrants. Even after being the Vice President of the women's wing and serving Indian National Congress for six years, she complained of not getting the opportunity to speak with Priyanka Gandhi.
Uttar Pradesh goes to poll on February 10 in seven phases to elect 403 members for the state legislative assembly. After the votes are counted, the results are expected to be declared on March 10, 2022. Apart from Uttar Pradesh, states like Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa, Manipur also go to the election in February.
