Who Is Usha Thakur, Minister Performing "Puja" At Indore Airport Without Wearing Mask

The Minister for Tourism and Culture in Madhya Pradesh, Usha Thakur was seen performing a "puja" before the statue of Devi Ahilya Holkar at the Indore airport. Many pointed out that she was not wearing a mask.

She was also joined by Aryama Sanyas, the Airport Director and other staff members.

Who is Usha Thakur?

• Usha Thakur is the MLA from Indore's Mhow seat. She is often seen in public without wearing a mask.
• In an interview with NDTV, the MLA said that she performs "havan" and recites Hanuman Chalisa every day, so she doesn't need to wear a mask.
• The Minister has also previously claimed that performing the "havan" of a cow dung cake can keep a house sanitised for 12 hours.
• Usha Thakur is a politician of the Bharatiya Janta Party.
• When Uttarakhand's Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat gave a controversial statement on women who wear "ripped jeans", she backed him saying that it is a "bad omen in Indian culture" to wear torn clothes.
• "The well-cultured families that we have here, and those who live the traditional lifestyle, do not like these kinds of clothes," said the Minister in her statement.

According to the Health Ministry, Madhya Pradesh is among the top ten states in the country in having COVID cases, accounting for more than 84 per cent of daily cases. In the last 24 hours, the state has added 4,882 Covid-19 cases.

The total number of COVID patients in Madhya Pradesh has reached 3,77,220 and over 4,000 people have died due to the virus. Due to election rallies, religious gatherings, and crowded festivals, there has been a record increase in the COVID cases in the country.

On Saturday, April 10 morning, the country saw 1,45,384 cases increased in the last 24 hours, and the total cases in the country have reached 1.3 crores.
