Family background and education
She was born on 9 November 1993. She is from Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh.
She completed her schooling at the Convent of Jesus and Mary in Delhi. She pursued a degree in Political Science from Lady Shri Ram College.
Her father Jaswant Dabi is a serving IES officer. Her mother is a former Indian Engineering Service (IES) officer.
UPSC Topper in 2015
Tina Dabi topped UPSC in 2015. Not only this, but she was also one of the youngest toppers of the UPSC exam and the first Dalit person to achieve the feat. She pursued her training at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussourie for two years. She also got the President’s gold medal in 2018 and secured the first rank in the Order of Merit.
“It feels incredible. I still can’t believe that I have topped the exam. It was my first attempt. I am excited and waiting for a new learning experience,” Dabi, a Political Science graduate had said to India Today.
Talking about how she prepared to crack the interview, she said that she used to study for 8 to 14 hours for five continuous years. This means that she must have dedicated 12,000-15,000 hours to studies in that five-year time period.
She is currently posted in the Government of Rajasthan as Joint Secretary of Finance (Tax).

Tina Dabi's leadership during the pandemic
Tina Dabi had been Bhilwara’s sub-divisional magistrate since October 2018. She showed exemplary leadership during the pandemic and managed to contain the spread of the virus in the district. One of the steps she took was including making a scheme to reach out to the public and provide them with whatever was needed in this time of public health crisis.
Tina Dabi's personal life
Tina Dabi had married IAS Officer Athar Khan in 2018 in Kashmir. He was an IAS officer from 2015 batch who stood second in the civil services exam. They grew closer during their IAS training and consequently decided to get married. They, however, announced their divorce in 2020 after Dabi reportedly removed ‘Khan’ from her surname on social media, while Khan himself had unfollowed her account on Instagram.

Following her sister’s footsteps, Ria Dabi also cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exams of 2020. IAS Tina Dabi had taken to her social media handles to share the news that her sister secured the 15th rank in the civil services exams. As per reports, her sister had also attended Lady Shri Ram College of University of Delhi.
