Former Press Secretary to Kamala Harris, Sabrina Singh was recently named as the White House Deputy Press Secretary for the upcoming Joe Biden administration in the United States. The announcement was made on Friday by US President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Harris where they named the additional members of the White House staff.

The Biden-Harris transition tweeted the announcement regarding the new appointments, adding, "The Office of the Vice President will consist of experienced individuals who represent the very best of our country, and who are ready to meet the challenges we’re facing and deliver results for the American people on day one.”

Sabrina Singh retweeted the tweet by the transition team and wrote that she was honoured to work for Kamala Harris and "excited to continue the work and deliver results for the American people.”

Here are five things to know about Sabrina Singh, the woman named as the Deputy Press Secretary of the White House:
1. Sabrina Singh was the Press Secretary to Vice President-elect Kamala Harris when she was the senator of California.
2. Singh has also worked on Mike Bloomberg's presidential campaign and held the position of a senior spokesperson. She was also the National Press Secretary for Cory Booker's presidential campaign. In the 2016 presidential campaign, she was Hillary Clinton’s Communications Director. Singh has also served as the deputy communications director for the Democratic National Committee, spokesperson for American Bridge's Trump War Room, reported the LiveMint.
3. The 33-year-old is related to Sardar Jag Jit Singh, who was reportedly the man behind the establishment of an immigrant quota under former President Harry Truman.
4. In August last year, when Kamala Harris appointed her as the press secretary for her vice-presidential campaign, Singh became the first person of Indian origin in the US to hold that portfolio for a major party.
5. Sabrina Singh is married to Mike Smith, who is the political director for Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi.
