Television actor Preetika Chauhan was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Mumbai on Sunday for alleged possession of drugs. She was granted bail by a local court on Thursday. The NCB reportedly registered two cases and made six arrests, one of them being Chauhan. The officials recovered 99 grams of ganja from her.
While releasing her on a provisional cash bail of Rs 15,000, the court declared, “Accused prayed for grant of bail on the ground that she is innocent and possession is of small quantity. She is a resident of Mumbai and will not abscond”.

- 30-year-old Chauhan was arrested while buying drugs in Versova area of the city. At the same time, a Tanzanian national was caught with cocaine from South Mumbai.
- Preetika Chauhan is a well-known television personality, who has worked in several television serials such as Maa Vaishnodevi.
- Chauhan hails from Karsog in Himachal Pradesh and has a B.Tech degree.
- In her social media bio, she describes herself as a "Mountain girl".
- In her last Instagram post two weeks back, Chauhan wrote how it is not about "who hurt you and broke you down" but it is about "who was there for you and made you smile again."
- She made her acting debut with the film Jhamela in 2016.
- Apart from Vaishnodevi, she also played goddess Shachi in Sankat Mochan Mahabali Hanumaan.
- Chauhan also appeared in a few episodes of Sony's CID and Savdhaan India. She also starred as Bhudevi in Star Bharat show Jag Janni Maa Vaishno Devi. She was last seen as Goddess Parvati in Santoshi Maa – Sunayein Vrat Kathayein.
- In the drug case, the NCB also charged Faisal Yasin Shaikh. She allegedly got drugs from him.
- The court has directed both Chauhan and Shaikh to go to the NCB office for four Saturdays to assist in the investigations.
This drug nexus in Bollywood grabbed the spotlight after actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death. Many Bollywood A-listers have been questioned by the NCB in the past few months in the ongoing investigation.
