Who Is Pooja Shakun? Activist Booked For 'Seeking Ban On Namaz'

Who is Pooja Shakun Pandey? The activist has been trending on the internet. Pandey, the National secretary of Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha, Pooja Shakun Pandey has been booked for demanding a ban on Muslim namaaz, writing a bloody letter to the President.

Pooja Shakun Pandey is a Hindu activist and the National Secretary of Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha. She is also popularly known as Mahamandaleshwar Annapurna Bharti. She is in the news for demanding a ban on the namaaz, the prayer offered by the Muslim community. Pandey was booked by Aligarh police on Monday.

The activist has been in the news before, several times for such controversial statements and demands. Back in 2020, Pooja Shakun was arrested in Aligarh for the usage of provocative and derogatory language against members of the Tablighi Jamaat.

Who Is Pooja Shakun?

The Hindu Mahasabha earlier this year, conferred Pandit Nathuram Godse-Nana Apte Bharat Ratna on January 30, the day the country mourns the death of Mahatma Gandhi. One of the recipients of this award was Pooja Shakun Pandey. She was previously arrested in 2019 for reenacting the killing of Gandhi.

Pooja Shakun has also served as the first woman judge of the first Hindu Court, equivalent to Sharia courts, in Meerut. She had stated that if she was born before Godse, she would have killed Gandhi with her own hands. During her arrest due to this controversy in 2019, she had staid, “This commendation will only strengthen my resolve to propagate the nationalism that Godse died protesting.” Her husband also stood by her, stating that Pooja was a brave woman, who is promoting the right values of Hindutva. He said, “We have trained our children to kill anyone who challenges the unity of our motherland…Our children will not be as naive as us, they will kill many more before they get killed.”

Pooja Shakun has now been booked for demanding a ban on namaaz. She reportedly handed over a memorandum to the administration and wrote a letter in blood to the President. Additionally, notice was issued by the Additional City Magistrate (First) Aligarh. Kalanidhi Naithani SSP Aligarh has revealed: "A case has been registered against Pooja Shakun Pandey under section 153A, 153B, 295A and 505 of Indian Penal Code at Gandhi Park police station of Aligarh for disputed statements made by her. Investigations are ongoing in this case, and appropriate action will be taken. Besides this, a notice has also been served on this issue by the concerned magistrate."
