Who Is Najiya Navas? She is a graduate from Thiruvananthapuram. She has entered the India Book of Records by drawing pictures in the technique of Warli painting. She is a resident of Kaniyauram in Thiruvananthapuram.
Warli painting is an art form unique to the tribal community of the North Sahyadri Range in Maharashtra. The one that she made is 5 inches in length and breadth. The previous record that exists is of a Warli painting that's 10-inch long and 10-inch wide.
What makes her achievement special is the fact that she didn't learn it formally. She picked up the tricks of the trade from the internet. She has drawn more than 100 pictures so far, as per sources.
In an interview with IANS, she revealed that it was during the COVID-19 lockdown that she started exploring Warli painting. She has already sold several of her drawings online and made money through it.
Learning drawing and painting in a systematic manner from Mumbai is a part of her bucket list and she will soon fulfill that.
