The execution of Lisa Montgomery, the only woman on death in the United States of America, was reinstated by the judges on January 1, 2021. She will be executed under death row before the president-elect Joe Biden's inauguration. Earlier the decision was delayed by the Justice Department of the USA. It has been more than a decade since she was convicted of kidnapping and killing a 23-year-old pregnant woman in 2004.
The U.S. District Judge Rudolph Moss had put a stay on her execution until further January 2021. This would have stopped the Bureau of Prison to schedule her execution before the president-elect Joe Biden could have started his term as president of the United States of America on January 20. Since Biden is against death penalty plans to do away with, it is hoped that Montgomery will not be executed after all.
