Who Is Leena Maria Paul? Actor Arrested In 200-Crore Racket With Sukesh Chandrashekhar

Who Is Leena Maria Paul? The model-turned-actor was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with an extortion racket earlier this week. Her role in the alleged racket is suspected with Tihar jail inmate and her partner Sukesh Chandrasekhar.

Paul was sent to 15 days of police remand by the court on September 6. She is accused of duping Aditi Singh, the wife of the former promoter of Ranbaxy Shivinder Singh. Her partner, Chandrasekhar was already sent to police remand in the case on Saturday.

This was not the first time that the actor had been questioned by authorities regarding her association with the alleged conman Chandrasekhar in many criminal cases.

Chandrasekhar is accused of running a Rs 200 crore extortion racket while he was in prison. As per media reports, he used to allegedly pose as a government official to extort money from businessman. Currently, the ED is probing a extortion case involving a businessman's wife and Chandrasekhar.

According to reports, the alleged conman used to take money from businessman promising that he would help in resolving their cases pending in High Courts and Supreme Court. Chandrasekhar is also accused of taking money from AIADMK leader TTV Dhinakaran citing that he would bribe election commission officials. The police has recovered several of his assets after his arrest.

• Leena Maria Paul started her film career by doing small time roles in Tamil and Telugu films. She also starred in Bollywood film, Madras Cafe.
• Her association with the alleged conman, Sukesh Chandrasekhar who is currently in Rohini jail in Delhi, has often made news.
• As per reports, Leena holds more credits than any popular actor in the Malayalam film industry. Along with Chandrasekha, she owns a beachfront bungalow in Chennai which is worth Rs 1.5 crore. The bungalow has now been confiscated by the ED along with six luxury cars, two kilos of gold, Rs. 82.50 lakh in cash and a number of expensive bags and shoes from her house.
• Several bags worth Rs 29.6 lakh were taken away from the ED.
• In 2017, underworld don Ravi Poojara's gang had carried out a shootout at her beauty parlour.
• She was arrested in 2013 with Sukhesh Chandrasekhar for cheating Canara Bank's Ambattur branch near Chennai. She was accused of cheating Rs 19 crore in addition to the extortion amount which was reported at Rs 76 Lakh.
• Paul belongs to Kottayam in Kerala. She was studying BDS course and had plans to become a dentist.
• Later she ended up doing modelling and then got roles as an actor in films.
• She also had a beauty parlour in Kochi, Kerala.
• Paul is also accused of having connections with Kerala's security agencies who are monitored by authorities for their extremist connections.
