The 17-year-old JEE topper Pal Aggarwal from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh scored 99.988 percentile in JEE Main. She topped the JEE Main in Uttar Pradesh with Namrata Jha following close behind with a 99.985 percentile. Aggarwal is the ranked fourth among the female candidates for JEE Main 2021 in India.
Aspiring Astronaut to JEE : How did it happen?
- Pal Aggarwal is aspiring to become an astronaut and aims to graduate in aerospace engineering.
- Aggarwal who ranked fourth among female candidates in India is not satisfied. She stated that she aims to score 100 percentile when she attempts JEE Main again.
- The results were declared by the National Testing Agency on March 8, International Women’s Day.
- Aggarwal said, “It was a double celebration at our house. First, I emerged as UP topper in JEE (Mains) and second, it happened on International Women’s Day.
- Aggarwal will be appearing for the CBSE Class 12 examination in May 2021. Due to this she will skip the JEE Main exam in March and appear in April.
Eye on 100 Percentile
- Out of the six candidates to score 100 percentile in JEE Main 2021, none were female and Aggarwal is aiming to change that.
- Pal Aggarwal has gotten admission into IISc Bangalore through clearing the KVPY entrance.
- Aggarwal also wishes to top JEE Advanced, the IIT entrance test.
- She is the daughter of psychologist Rakhi Aggarwal and businessman Vishal Aggarwal.

Scoring a high percentile in JEE Mains means girls like Pal Aggrawal can get admissions in the high ranking institutes for engineering. Out of the 6.2 lakh students that appeared for the JEE Main exam in February, only 1.87 lakh candidates were female. According to the statistics provided by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, there is a difference of more than 40 percent in the enrolment percentage of boys and girls in Bachelor of Technology and Bachelor of Engineering programs.
