Who Is Emma Raducanu: She scripted history by becoming the first ever qualifier to reach the women's singles final at a Grand Slam. She is also the youngest Grand Slam finalist in 17 years. She defeated 17th seeded Maria Sakkari of Greece 6-1, 6-4 in the semi-finals at the US Open on Thursday. It was the first time she had faced a player in the world top 30 and she beat her.

A video showing the final point that sent Raducanu into the final has been shared by US Open's Twitter handle. The British teen looked stunned as she couldn't believe what she had just achieved.

  • As a part of her training routine, she used to practise tennis for three or four hours on court every day and then also attend gym. She was a full-time student while doing all this.
  • "The time in New York has gone so quickly, I've been taking care of each day and three weeks later I'm in the final. I actually can't believe it," Raducanu said after scripting history, as per a report.
