With the announcement of the replacement of MLAs, new faces have started coming into the cabinet. The entire team of Kerala's previous ministers has been replaced except for Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
Among the many newly appointed MLAs, the cabinet has seen the appointment of three women as ministers. This is the most women ministers the Kerala cabinet has to date. The women ministers are Chinchu Rani, Dr. R Bindu, and Veena George. The swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed ministers will be held on May 20 at the central stadium in Thiruvananthapuram while following COVID-19 protocol and preventive measures.
The new women ministers in the Pinarayi cabinet are now the focus of many people after the announcement of their appointment. The replacement of the ex Health Minister, KK Shailaja, who was loved and adored by the people has also triggered many reactions and comments.
Who is Chinchu Rani?
- J Chinchu Rani is the first of the three women confirmed for the post of MLA for this session. The 56-year-old is most likely to handle the Animal Husbandry And Dairy Development of the state.
- Chinchu Rani is the first woman from the Communist Party of India (CPI) who is appointed to be a Minister after 1964. She is following the footsteps of K R Gowri, who was the first woman from CPI to be a part of the cabinet.
- She began her public life from her association with Balavedi, a children’s organisation of KSSP and All India Students Federation (AISF). The new Animal Husbandry And Dairy Development minister is also a CPI executive committee member.
- Rani’s husband, D Sukesan is also a well-known local leader of CPI in Kollam, Kerala.
