Who was Aruna Bhatia: Actor Akshay Kumar shared in a social media post that his mother Aruna Bhatia passed away on the morning of September 8. The actor had recently flown back to Mumbai from the UK on Monday morning as his mother Aruna Bhatia who is reportedly admitted to the ICU of Hiranandani Hospital.

In his Twitter post, Kumar wrote that his mother was his core and that today he felt an unbearable pain at the very core of his existence. "My maa Smt Aruna Bhatia peacefully left this world today morning and got reunited with my dad in the other world. I respect your prayers as I and my family go through this period," Kumar added.

As per reports, the actor's mother had been unwell for the past few days and was in critical condition. Akshay Kumar was shooting for his film Cinderella in the UK for the past few weeks. As he had to leave for Mumbai, he asked the producers to carry on shooting without him.

The sources close to Akshay Kumar told the media, "The actor’s mom has been unwell for a few days and is in the ICU at Mumbai’s Hiranandani Hospital. Akshay is extremely attached to his mother and could not stay away from her while she’s not well, so he decided to fly back to India in a sudden decision."

On September 6, after reports about his mother's ill health began to concern his fans, the actor took to social media and wrote, "Touched beyond words at your concern for my mom’s health. This is a very tough hour for me and my family. Every single prayer of yours would greatly help."

Kumar has often spoken about how he cares for his mother. In a Mother's Day post from earlier, the actor had written "Maa warga koi nahi". ( There is nobody like mother)

When he went to London to spend time with his mother, he had said, “Juggled shoot to spend a few days with mom in London. No matter how busy you are with life and growing up, don’t forget they are also growing old. So, spend time with them while you still can.”

As Akshay Kumar was interested in sports when he was growing up, he said that his mother ensured that he got nutritious home-cooked meals. He had also boasted about his mother's courage when he shared with his fans and followers how his 75-year-old mother started doing yoga every day after getting knee surgery.
