Annu Rani who hails from India, finished seventh in the event with her best throw at 61.12m. Kelsey Lee Barber stood first with a massive throw of 66.91m, Kara Winger won silver with 64.05m, and Haruka Kitagichi came third with a throw of 63.27m. This also marks Japan's first ever medal in the event.
Annu Rani, who holds India's national record in Javelin was selected for the World Championship after she secured 8th position in the qualifiers, held on Thursday, with a throw spanning 59.60m on her last attempt. Her best throw throughout this Championship remains 63.82m. In the final event, Annu Rani was given six attempts. She managed to span 56.18m in her first, and 61.12m in the second attempt. 59.27m and 58.14m in her 3rd and 4th and 58.79m and 60.18m in her 5th and 6th attempts.

Annu Rani is an Indian Javelin thrower who hails from Bahadurpur, Meerut and Uttar Pradesh. The current Championship event marking her second, Annu Rani was the first ever Indian Javelin thrower to qualify for the finals of the women's javelin throw in the 2019 World Athletics Championships, held in Doha. Her talent was recognised and nurtured by her brother Upendra, who helped coach her during her childhood days, later funding her coaching. The rest of her family is known to have come around only after she proved herself by breaking the national record in 2014.
Rani has earned several medals throughout her journey as an Indian Javelin thrower. Playing the sport since the age of 18 Annu has won a gold medal at the 59th National Open Athletics Championship, a bronze medal at the IAAF World Challenge in Ostrava, the Czech Republic, silver medal at Athletics Championships in Qatar Doha on 21 April 2019. also becoming the first Indian woman javelin thrower to ever participate in a World Championship, and now currently has won the seventh position in the world Championships held at Oregon in 2022.
