The Union Public Service Commission Civil Services Examination result 2021 was announced today, on May 30 and the top three candidates are all women. The CSE 2021 topper is Shruti Sharma and the second and third rank holders are Ankita Agarwal and Gamini Singla respectively. The UPSC results were dominated by ladies this year as the fourth position was also bagged by a female named Aishwarya Verma. Let's know more about the second UPSC topper Ankita and her life.
Ankita secured an All India Rank 2 in her UPSC exam; the topper who hails from West Bengal cracked the civil service exam, which is one of the toughest civil services examinations, in her second attempt. Everyone since then has been curious about the AIR 2 holder Agarwal.
Who Is Ankita Agarwal?
Ankita is from Kolkata, West Bengal and completed her graduation in 2017 in Economics Honours from the prestigious St. Stephen's College of Delhi University. She then went on to work for a consultancy firm called Dalberg for a year.
During her job, she was able to cover countries like Bangladesh. Ankita always wanted to serve her country so in 2018, Ankita decided to pursue her dream of giving the UPSC examination and for that, she resigned from her job at Dalberg.
Ankita prepared rigorously for a year and in 2019, gave the UPSC CSE for the first time. She secured All India Rank 239 in her first attempt and decided to try once more for a better rank. 2021 CSE was her second attempt and her hard work paid off as she secured AIR 2 this time.
Ankita's father is a Kolkata based businessman. She selected Political Science as her optional subject for the CSE Mains exam. About her post preferences, Ankita's first choice is IAS and the second is IPS. Ankita's success story is all about commitment, belief, focus and hard work.
This year, 685 candidates got selected for UPSC appointments out of which 508 are males and 177 qualified candidates are female. The 2021 CSE Prelims were held in October 2021 followed by Mains in January 2022 and the interview round in April-May 2022. Out of these 685 candidates, the commission will now appoint 180 IAS, 37 IFS and 200 IPS officers and the country will get a fresh batch of civil servants.
