Who Is Anamika Sharma ? India's Youngest Woman To Hold Skydiving Licence

Who Is Anamika Sharma: A 21-year-old budding engineer from Sangam city has scripted history by becoming the youngest Indian woman to bag a license for professional sky-diving. Anamika Sharma has got her A’ category professional United States Parachute Association (USPA) license from Dubai drop zone in January 2022.

• Anamika Sharma was just 11 when she first jumped from a height of 10,000 feet.
• She has accomplished the feat of having 42 jumps to her name. She has executed them using 10 different types of parachutes and six different aircraft.
• “When you are in the air it gives a feeling of being free and once you touch the ground, the happiness and exhilaration is tough to explain,” the young achiever said in an interview with Hindustan Times
• Her father is also a professional sky-diver.  With this, they have now become the only father and daughter duo who are also professional sky-divers in the country.
• She went to Moscow for the training in August- September 2021 and in Dubai in November 21 and again in January 2022.
• She is pursuing a BTech degree from Bengaluru.
• She is just the fifth woman professional sky-diver in the country and the youngest to achieve the feat (bagging the USPA licence).
• Anamika said in an interview that the government will soon be coming up with national air sports policy.  This will give the needed push to this challenging field of sports and also make daughters of our country give a stiff challenge to their foreign counterparts.
• She also shared that her mom was a bit apprehensive about her decision of pursuing sky-diving professionally.
• She credits her achievement to her father who motivated her and Santosh Nagraj, her father's friend and an ace sky-diver.
