Dr Anahita Pandole, Booked For Cyrus Mistry Car Crash, Had Multiple Challans: Cops

In the latest development of Cyrus Mistry's car crash death, the Palghar police have found that Dr Anahita Pandole, who is booked for rash and negligent driving, has a history of traffic rules violations. According to police officials, a total of 19 e-challans were issued to her in the last two years of which 11 were for speeding.

“The challans were issued against the vehicle involved in the accident that killed Mistry and Jehangir. When we obtained details of these challans from the Mumbai traffic police, we found that Anahita was captured by speed cameras behind the wheel of the car in these instances,” said Palghar superintendent of police Balasaheb Patil.

“Further inquiries established that the car, registered in the name of JM Financials, is owned by the Pandoles and it was being used by Anahita,” he added.

Dr Anahita Pandole underwent treatment for injuries sustained in the car crash that killed ex-chairman of Tata Sons Cyrus Mistry. The gynaecologist was driving the vehicle when it crashed into the divider on September 4.

Pandole was hospitalised at the Sir HN Reliance Hospital in Mumbai. She sustained multiple fractures, including in her rib and shoulder bone in the car crash.

An official revealed that Pandole has made improvements and the doctors will decide their next steps once she is off external support systems. Both Pandole and her husband Darius Pandole were injured in the car crash and are on external support systems.

The CEO of Sir HN Reliance Hospital, Dr Tarang Gianchandani said the two survivors of the crash reached the hospital and a team of 20 multi-disciplinary doctors were evaluating them and would look after them.

Who Is Anahita Pandole?

• Dr Anahita Pandole is one of Mumbai’s top gynaecologists and consultant obstetricians with a special interest in infertility management.
• She completed her MBBS from the Topiwala National Medical College and the BYL Nair Charitable Hospital. She completed her MD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the same college.
• Pandole is known for her involvement in promoting and preserving the Parsi heritage by providing fertility treatments at subsidised rates. The Parsi population was witnessing a gradual drop in population and the fertility rate of the community decreased.
• In 2004, Pandole collaborated with the Bombay Parsi Panchayet to start The Bombay Parsi Panchyet Fertility Project. The project allowed Parsis to have access to state-of-the-art medical facilities.
• She played a key role in the formulation of the methodology required by the Jiyo Parsi programme, a Government-funded scheme that helps infertile couples from the Parsi community become parents.
• Pandole was driving the Mercedes that crashed into a divider and her husband was in the passenger seat. Her brother-in-law Jahangir Pandole and Cyrus Mistry were travelling with them and were killed in the incident.
• Pandole and her husband were taken to a neighbouring Vapi town of Gujarat and were later transferred to a hospital in Mumbai.
