West Bengal: Ahead Of State Polls Actor Sayantika Banerjee Joins The Trinamool Congress

Bengali actor Sayantika Banerjee became officially joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC) which is West Bengal's ruling party.

Banerjee joined the party on Wednesday in the presence of party leader and West Bengal Minister Partha Chatterjee, and other TMC leaders.

"I was with Didi for the past 10 years but today I officially joined TMC. I request the people of Bengal to be with us and Didi. We know Bangla wants Bengali,"  Banerjee said..

Sayantika Banerjee's latest move comes ahead of the West Bengal assembly elections which will commence from March 27 to April 29. The elections will be held in eight phases, and the vote counting will happen on May 2. The major contesting parties for the elections include the Trinamool Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the Congress-Left alliance.

Who is Sayantika Banerjee?

Sayantika Banerjee is a actor who works in the Bengali cinema. She started her career in the dance show Naach Doom Macha Ley.  She has worked in several Bengali films which include Target, Hangover and Mone Pore Ajo Sei Din. However, she garnered commercial success with the film Awara which was released in 2012. She has also acted in Shooter (2012), Bindaas (2014), Shesh Theke Shuru (2019).

The actor is extremely passionate about dance and fitness, and regularly posts videos on the same.

Several actors have joined the BJP just before the state elections which will commence towards the end of this month. On Tuesday, another actor Srabanti Chatterjee joined the party in Kolkata. Actor Yash Dasgupta, Raj Mukherjee, Ashok Bhadra and Tollywood actors Papiya Adhikari and Mallika Banerjee were also inducted into the party. Bengali actor Payel Sarkar too joined the BJP in the presence of the BJP's state party chief Dilip Ghosh and national president JP Nadda.
