Alexandria Villaseñor supports Disha Ravi: Bengaluru environment activist and Fridays for Future (FFF) India founder, Disha Ravi is now backed by American climate activist Alexandria Villaseñor. After Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg's supports poured in on Friday, Villaseñor broke her silence on the 21-year-old's arrest stating, “I know Disha Ravi and she is an amazing activist and awesome human!"
The 15-year-old tweeted in Ravi's support saying, "The right to peaceful protest is a human right and we will not be silenced." She also called for a campaign with the hashtag #StandWithDishaRavi.

Currently, the Bengaluru activist has been sent to three days of judicial custody by Delhi's Patiala House court, in connection to the "Toolkit case".
Earlier, Thunberg too took to Twitter to showcase her support to Ravi saying that "freedom of speech and right to protest" is "non-negotiable human rights". "These must be a fundamental part of any democracy," wrote Thunberg after the young activist was arrested from Bengaluru earlier this month.
She also attached a statement issued by the Indian chapter of Fridays for Future.
Freedom of speech and the right to peaceful protest and assembly are non-negotiable human rights. These must be a fundamental part of any democracy. #StandWithDishaRavi https://t.co/fhM4Cf1jf1

An FIR was filed against Ravi for her alleged involvement in sharing a toolkit backing farmers’ protest. Police alleged that it was aimed at tarnishing India’s image globally.
The controversial “toolkit” was surfaced after Swedish activist Greta Thunberg posted it on social media in early February. Based on it, the police claimed Ravi was involved in “formulation and dissemination” of the doc. Disha Ravi Toolkit Case: All You Need to Know
Villaseñor's journey to activism began when she was 13. In 2018, she visited her hometown of Davis, CA, and witnessed a deadly Camp Fire that eventually inspired her to march to the United Nations headquarters and start a solo movement.
