A 12-year-old girl in Tacoma, Washington was sent home for a dress code violation. In a video that recently went viral, the mother of a 12 year old can be seen to talking to her daughter’s school principal after her daughter was sent home for allegedly having violated the school’s dress code.
The mother, Khalesei Holt, posted a video on Friday on her TikTok which went viral. The text overlay on the video reads,: "Sent home for dress code at 12-year-old! And the principle
The incident occurred at Ford Middle School in Tacoma, Washington, USA. The video has already secured more than 10 million views and has garnered varied responses from users.
According to reports, the spokesperson for the school said that one of the mother's assertions was "not accurate." The video begins with Holt saying, “I am done with it, so I am recording for my protection because I can't do it” with camera pointed towards a wall. Holt was not given the permission to record the conversation but chose to do so.
Holt then proceeds to ask the principal whether her daughter was going to be allowed back in class, the principal says, "not right now."
The exasperated mother can then be heard responding, she says, "So you're going to take her education away over her dress code?” The Principal then heads out of the room leaving Holt to further question, "Who's going to send
The middle schooler is spotted in the video on numerous occasions in which she appears to be wearing a tee-shirt and sweatpants. It's unclear as to which dress code policy was violated by her.
In the comments section of the video, the mother added that she brought her daughter a shirt to change into, but the administration "wouldn't allow her
They also explained that Holt's daughter had received multiple dress code violations leading up to this incident. Multiple users in the comments section commended Holt’s actions. On the other hand, several users stepped up and said that the mother should comply with the school’s regulations regardless of whether she likes them or not.
