Vizag may soon get another women's police station. A proposal to that effect was made by the city cops to the state government as at present there is no such police station accessible to women and that they are forced to travel from distant areas to the existing women's police station near the commissionerate to lodge their complaints.

The initiative to have a women's police station was taken to deal with women only cases like marriage disputes and provide counselling to couples. Sources have told TOI that city police commissioner T Yoganand officially sent the proposal to the director general of police of AP N Sambasiva Rao. Furthermore, if the proposal is accepted, then the new women police station would be set up at Gajuwaka area, sources said.
“We have sent the proposal to the DGP. If it is accepted by the government, it would come into effect soon. After verifying the facts, we decided to send a proposal to the government to provide better services to women in the city," the city police commissioner T Yoganand told TOI.
