Social activist and journalist Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj was among the first to share the video, captioning it, "Feel terrible for kids around these reel monsters." Bhardwaj expressed her dismay over the incident and further investigated the woman's social media presence. She noted that the child seen in the controversial video did not appear in any other posts on the woman’s profile. "She must have taken someone's child," Bhardwaj speculated, adding to the concerns about the child's well-being.

The video caught the attention of digital storyteller Neelesh Misra, who also re-shared the footage. Misra criticised the woman’s actions, stating, "Smoking with an infant in her arms for a reel that will be forgotten on the flick of the thumb. This is criminal." He directed his message to the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) and its Chairperson, Priyank Kanoongo, highlighting the need for immediate attention to the matter.

The video has amassed over 120,000 views within a few hours of being posted, and the numbers continue to rise. The post has also gathered nearly 3,000 likes, indicating widespread engagement.
