A resident of Balewadi Pune is hailed by surprised netizens. Joining the list of very few families that celebrate the birth of a girl child, Ajit Pandurang Balwadkar, a resident of Balewadi on the outskirts of Pune, a farmer by profession, celebrated the arrival of his granddaughter, no less than a festival. He brought her home in a helicopter.

Booking a helicopter to bring his granddaughter Krushika home, from her maternal grandparents' house in Shewal Wadi, this excited grandfather made a grand gesture to welcome the newest member of the family. Making headlines by this gesture, the newborns' paternal grandfather Ajit said that he wanted to accord a grand welcome to Krushika, the newest member of the family.

This is not the first time a family has made this grand gesture. Recently, in the Khed tehsil of Pune, another couple had also booked a helicopter to bring their daughter home. Rajalakshmi who was born on January 22 in Bhosari, in her mother's home was brought home to Shelgaon in Khed, in a helicopter. The girl’s father who is an advocate set a positive example.

He said, ‘We didn’t have any girl in our entire family. So, we decided to make our daughter’s homecoming special and we arranged a chopper ride worth Rs 1 lakh.” Additionally, setting the right example for the society to look up to, he also said that the birth of a newborn girl should be celebrated like a festival and that’s the message he wants to spread in society.

Another such incident, also made headlines last year, when a family in Rajasthan, welcomed the birth of a daughter with a grand celebration. The girl child, the household’s first in 35 years, was brought home in a helicopter from her maternal grandparents' house in Nagaur to India's largest state, Rajasthan. A video of the incident made rounds on the internet, where it was heartening to see a family celebrating the arrival of a girl child. The girl child, Riya, was born to Hanuman Prajapat and Chuki Devi in March 2021.

The baby's father Hanuman Prajapat stated- “It is usually seen that people do not celebrate the birth of a girl. There should be no discrimination between a girl and a boy. I will make my daughter study and fulfill all her dreams,”  As per reports, the family spent around a total of Rs 4.5 lakh, as the elders of the family believed the birth of a girl after a full three decades was an occasion to celebrate.
