Vijaywada Nurse Sexually Assaulted: A woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by two men on the bank of the Krishna river in the Seethanagaram area of Guntur district on June 19, as per reports.
The woman reportedly worked as a nurse in a private hospital in Vijaywada. On the day of the crime, she had gone to Pushkar Ghat of the river with her fiance at around 9 pm when the two men allegedly attacked her after tying up her fiance. According to reports, the police has formed a special team to catch the accused, they suspect them to be local men with a history of crime.

Reports state that the men who allegedly sexually assaulted the woman also took away the cellphones of the couple and left the scene on the boat towards Vijaywada. Police got to know about the crime when the woman and her fiance filed a complaint at Tadepalli police station on June 20 morning. The survivor is currently going through treatment at Guntur Government Hospital.
The police, according to a report by TNM, are suspecting the involvement of a 'blade batch'. A report by Hindu calls defines them as a gang of young local men with a history of crime who use blades to attack people and rob them.
The couple was reportedly unable to provide information about the accused persons' appearance. Guntur police are currently investigating the case with a special team. So far, four persons have been called by police for questioning, the officials said.
Vasireddy Padma, the Chairperson of Andhra Pradesh Women's Commission, condemned the incident. She urged the police officials to fast track the investigation of the case and offered assurance to the survivor's family that strict action will be taken against the people responsible for the crime.
