Shakuntala Devi was one of India’s finest mathematicians ever, who could multiply and calculate numbers in her head way faster than normal brains can fathom. “But what truly fascinates me is that you wouldn’t normally associate a fun person with Math…and she completely turns that perception on its head,” Vidya further added.

Initially scheduled to release on 8 May, the film aims to celebrate the story of a woman in science in India.
Shakuntala Devi also advocated for the rights of gay people in the country. She also authored the book – The world of homosexuals in 1977. Devi was married to Kolkata-based IAS officer, Paritosh Bannerji, who it was later revealed was homosexual. She was the first gay rights activist, and her book is arguably the first book written in India demanding decriminalisation of homosexuality.
Fans will love to watch the combination of the two finest we believe, Shakuntala Devi who made math fun and Vidya Balan, who with her remarkable acting skills has been winning the audiences’ hearts with every performance.
