India’s first female comic book superhero, Priya, is all set to dive into a brand-new exciting adventure. The fourth edition of India’s first pioneering comic book series, ‘Priya’s Mask’ will this time tackle the unprecedented global COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic has challenged everyone in India and around the world.
The comic book and film will be released worldwide on December 2, 2020 on multiple platforms.
'Priya's Mask' will be released as an augmented reality comic book. It is paired with an animated short film featuring the voices of feminist leaders from the U.S. and India, including icon Vidya Balan, Rosanna Arquette, Mrunal Thakur, and Sairah Kabir.
About The Comic And Film
U.S.-based media house Rattapallax founder, documentary filmmaker, and technologist Ram Devineni has created the series. UN Women has named it a ‘gender equality champion’.
Tanvi Gandhi, Indrani Ray, and Monika Samtani have produced the film. The comic is written by Shubhra Prakash, with illustrations and animation by Syd Fini, Hamid Bahrami and Neda Kazemifar. It is funded through a grant from the North India Office (NIO) of U.S. Embassy New Delhi, in coordination with the Regional English Language Office (RELO), as part of U.S.-India cooperation to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

The comic book and film will also present a collaboration between two popular female superheroes from India and Pakistan. Priya represents India and Burka Avenger is her Pakistan counterpart. They will be joining hands in fighting the deadly virus.
Voiced by Mrunal Thakur, Priya will be remodelled for the very first time. She will be shedding away her former salwar-kameez clad avatar and embracing a feisty teenage demeanour seen in young women around the world. Vidya Balan voices Priya's friend, the flying tiger Sahas.
Vidya Balan and Mrunal Thakur are thrilled to be a part of the film. They said that the characters they are voicing resonate with them.
Introduced in 2014, 'Priya's Mask' has, over the years, brought to attention issues such as rape, acid-attacks, and sex-trafficking.
