US Woman Held For 'Screaming' In Dubai, Here's Why

Houston resident who was accused of "screaming in public" has been jailed in Dubai. Tierra Young Allen's family claims that she has been trapped there for the past two months and that they are frightened for her future. The mother of Allen stated that her daughter's passport had been taken away. The Houston-based social media influencer, who drives trucks for a living, is now subject to a travel ban until the conclusion of the inquiry.

What Exactly Happened?

Reportedly, the incident occurred in May when Tierra was vacationing in the UAE with a friend. During their trip, they were involved in a minor accident, and as a result, the rented car they were driving got impounded. Thankfully, no one sustained injuries in the fender bender. However, the Dubai police detained her friend on the assumption that she was the one driving the vehicle at the time of the accident.

After a week in detention, the person, whose identity has been suppressed, was freed, but drama broke out when Allen went to the automobile rental business to retrieve her credit cards, ID, and other confiscated personal goods. She learned that in order to obtain such products, she had to pay an undisclosed sum of money. She had to deal with an aggressive young man there who yelled at her, prompting the 29-year-old to yell back. As a consequence, she was arrested by the Dubai Police.

The Department of State has issued a warning to Americans saying, 'While contemplating a visit to a predominantly Muslim country, specifically the UAE, the regulations on public decency and morality are considerably stricter than those in the United States.'
