According to the police, the infant was in good health. It was nonetheless transported to a local hospital for a checkup. The Beverly Hills Police Department turned over the case to the Los Angeles Police Department. If the occurrence qualifies as a safe surrender, the LAPD is currently attempting to determine this.

Provision To Surrender The Baby

The Safely Surrendered Infant statute (California Health and Safety Code, Section 1255.7) offers a safe option for the surrender of a newborn infant in certain circumstances, according to the California Department of Social Services. A parent or anyone with legal custody may safely surrender a baby within 72 hours after delivery without fear of punishment under the act.

Furthermore, according to the local County Board of Supervisors, the infant must be brought to a public or private hospital, designated fire station, or other safe surrender location before it may be turned over. There won't be any questions asked, and under California Penal Code Section 271.5, those who surrender are exempt from punishment for abandonment.
