Bad news for Indian tennis fans. Sania Mirza and her Czech partner Barbara Strycova crashed out of the US Open on Tuesday after being outplayed by top seeds Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic in straight sets in the quarter-finals.
Even though the Indo-Czech pair played a tough game, but the French pair took only 69 minutes to win 7-6 (7-3) 6-1, to end the Indian challenge at Flushing Meadows.

The duo lost serve in the mini-service break as they conceded the first set 7-6 in 45 minutes. The second set was in favour of the French girls as they served twice to open up a 5-0 lead before finishing the match at 6-1. Sania and Barbara had produced a solid performance, a 6-4, 7-5 win over the American-Japanese pair Nicole Gibbs and Nao Hibino to reach the women's doubles quarterfinals at the US Open on Monday, but in this game they failed to raise their game for a win.

Sania was the sole Indian left in the tournament after Rohana Bopanna and Leander Paes exited the competition with their respective mixed doubles partners. But with this loss, the Indian representation ends.
