The exchange between Ogles and the activist occurred on February 15, coinciding with the US vetoing a ceasefire resolution at the United Nations Security Council for the third time since the conflict began, adding strain to the complexity of the controversy as the international community grapples with the ongoing crisis in Gaza.

Amidst the political uproar, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to worsen. Palestinian health authorities report over 12,400 children killed by Israeli forces since October 7.
