The misuse of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana

As per reports, 11 women have misused the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in UP alone. They took the first instalment provided by the scheme and eloped with their lovers. Cases like these have created controversy across the country. The husbands who have been deceived by their wives reported complaints about the issue to the officials.

The way the scheme of Pradhan Mantri Yojana is being misused is raising concerns. Therefore, the department has been alarmed by the misuse and has decided to stop giving the second instalment to people. The misuse is happening although the scheme has a provision of taking away the money if any discrepancies are detected.

Not only the beneficiaries are misusing the scheme, but the authorities responsible for implementing the scheme are also committing corruption. According to a report, in Mainpat of Surguja district of Chhattisgarh, 900 beneficiaries were defrauded by the authorities which took away about nine crore rupees allotted for implementing the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
