In a shocking incident, the driver and helper of a private ambulance sexually harassed a woman who was taking her ill husband back home. The accused allegedly removed the oxygen support of the husband after which he lost his life. The incident happened on August 29 and the FIR was lodged on September 4 in Lucknow.
As per the reports, the woman had admitted her husband to a private hospital in Lucknow. However, due to financial constraints, the woman decided to take her husband back to her home. For this, she hired a private ambulance to go back to her home. Reportedly her brother was also there with her.
When the woman resisted the assault, the accused threw her out of the ambulance
When the woman resisted the assault, the driver stopped the ambulance in Basti district which was 150 km away from the woman's house. The duo forced the woman and her brother outside the ambulance and the husband too.
The woman called the local police and they arranged a vehicle to take the husband to a nearby hospital, Gorakhpur Medical College. However, the doctors declared the husband dead on arrival.
The woman filed an FIR five days later
The woman returned to Lucknow and filed a complaint at the Ghazipur Police Station on September 4. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) of Lucknow Jitendra Kumar Dubey told the media, "We have lodged a case regarding the incident on the basis of the complaint registered by the woman. Our teams are trying to arrest the accused."
A similar incident
A few days ago, a lab technician sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl in a hospital in West Bengal. The girl was undergoing treatment for pneumonia and was admitted on August 28. During the late night of August 31, she was rushed for a CT scan. During the CT scan, the lab technician tried to kiss her and open her pants while saying inappropriate words. He even threatened the girl with an injection.
The girl sought help from the relative of another patient and was in distress. When confronted with the mother, she revealed everything that happened inside.
This led to a protest by hospital visitors demanding justice against the assault.
As per the reports, the lab technician has been arrested and an investigation is underway.
