A 38-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a man in a village located in Ballia district, Uttar Pradesh. The man was her neighbour who committed the act last week.
An FIR was registered against the alleged rapist by the woman. She claimed that the 36-year-old man approached her when she was all alone at her house. The senior police official of Rasra Kotwali police station Saurabh Rai said that the preparations are being made to arrest the man. Meanwhile, medical examinations will be conducted on the survivor who is now in the district hospital.

Of late, rape cases have been increasing in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Recently, a 50-year-old woman was gangraped by a temple priest and his two disciples. The priest had also released a video in which he claimed that the woman had fallen into the well and that he got two other men to rescue her. Another brutal incident happened on 14th September in Hathras wherein, a 19-year-old Dalit woman was gang-raped by four men belonging to the upper caste. She later died and the police received a lot of flak for setting her body on fire without her family's permission. Widespread protests took place and the case was then handed over to the CBI.
