A woman constable from the Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh has alleged that she was raped by a colleague. The information came to light on Wednesday. As of now, a case has been registered on Tuesday night at a woman police station, the officials said.
The Superintendent of Police Shailesh Kumar Pandey told the media that the woman constable accused her colleague of raping her on January 10, 2021, under the guise of showing her his room.

The woman constable alleged that she was threatened with dire consequences for resisting his assault. SP Pandey said that based on her complaint a case has been registered against the constable and the woman has been sent for medical examination. The police said that they are still searching for the absconding accused.
Of late, there have been multiple incidents that happened inside a police post, thus putting a question on the safety of women inside the places where one goes to seek justice. In a similar incident a week back, a woman was raped inside a police post in Ludhiana.
The cop was later booked under section 376 C which amounts for 5 or more years in prison along with fine if a person in authority is convicted of sexual misconduct. Further, the woman also alleged in her complaint that the Ludhiana cop intimidated her to keep quiet and threatened her to implicate her husband in a false case.
