In a bizarre incident, a man of Uttar Pradesh's Baghpat who was reported to be dead five years ago was found alive in Delhi. Not only this, he was living with a second wife and four children in Delhi working as a taxi driver. Read more about the incident here.
The man, identified as Yogendra Kumar, is a resident of Singhawali Ahir in Baghpat. According to the Police, in 2018, a man named Ved Prakash complained against Kumar and his brothers for a brawl. After the complaint, Kumar went missing.
The man was booked under sections of IPC
Jitendra Singh, SHO of Singhawali Ahir, said, “Kumar was booked under IPC sections 325 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), following which he went missing." The family of Kumar insisted on filing a police case against Ved Prakash as they suspected him of killing Kumar.
In April 2023, following a court order, the Police filed an FIR against Ved Prakash and two others. Charges under IPC sections 364 (kidnapping) and 302 (murder) were imposed on them. Police continued the investigation of Kumar's death for eight months but couldn't find any evidence claiming Kumar's death.
Finally, on Sunday, the Police traced the whereabouts of Kumar in Delhi. Apparently, he had reached the court to secure the pending bail. The SHO said, “He was working as a taxi driver and retained his identity. He had married another woman with whom he has four children.”
The man confessed the truth after being traced
On questioning, Kumar spoke about his rivalry with Prakash. He also confessed his extra-marital affair with a woman in Rohini with whom he has four children. Moreover, he also said that in 2018 he fled home in UP and started living in Delhi and he was aware that his family thought he was kidnapped and killed.
Meanwhile, the wife of Kumar said, "He neither visited us since 2018 nor he spoke to any one of us. We always wanted the police to get to the truth.”
