UP Doctor: A doctor named Shalini Maheshwari, and her reportedly untrained male staff member in Uttar Pradesh were accused of endangering a woman's life during her childbirth.
They have also been accused of 'outraging her modesty' at a hospital located in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh.
The woman and her husband who are both doctors lodged a complaint against the doctor Maheshwari and her male staff member at the Prem Nagar police station on Wednesday. An FIR has been filed against them under IPC Sections 336 (act endangering life or personal safety), 338 (causing grievous hurt) and 354 (outraging woman's modesty) along with relevant provisions of the Indian Medical Council Act.

In the complaint, the woman's husband who is actually a cardiologist alleged that his wife had been admitted to the Gangasheel Hospital on March 21, and she was in labour pain. A nurse was trying to call Dr Shalini Maheshwari, but she didn't come. Finally, the delivery was performed by the accused male staff member who was allegedly untrained.
He also added that his wife's condition worsened and that she had to be admitted to another hospital, where is currently undergoing treatment. She was shifted to the other hospital on March 23.

A few weeks ago, Dr Rajendra Shukla, a class 8 dropout had allegedly performed a C-section surgery on a pregnant woman using a shaving razor blade. Both the mother and her newborn child bled to death. The incident occurred in Uttar Pradesh's Sultanpur district. Shukla was employed by a Rajesh Sahni at the Maa Sharda Hospital in Saini village.
In Pune, Maharashtra, a woman died after giving birth to twins due to a severe shortage of ICU beds in the hospital. Her family members were told to find beds in other hospitals, but none were available.
