UP board cancels class 10 exams while class 12 exams will be held in the second week of July, it was announced on Saturday.
The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) on Saturday, May 29, announced that class 10 examinations are cancelled and class 12 examinations will be held in the second week of July. The exams will be held for class 12 students only if the situation becomes conducive.
As per the guidelines of the Union Ministry, the duration of exams has been reduced to 90 minutes which was earlier conducted for a period of three hours.
UP state government has decided to promote the students of classes 6 to 11 without any exams.
The class 10 and 12 examinations in UP were scheduled to be held from May 8 which were deferred in April due to the coronavirus situation.

According to the data, 56,03,813 students have been registered for the UP Board examinations for classes 10 and 12 this year. Out of these total students, 29,94,312 candidates have been registered for class 12 and 26,09,501 candidates have registered for class 10 exams.
Earlier in May, Madhya Pradesh Board also cancelled board exams for class 10 and postponed class 12 exams till the COVID-19 situation improves. On the other hand, Karnataka government decided to conduct board exams for class 10 as per schedule. The examinations are going to be held from June 21 to July 5.
All India boards like CBSE, CISCE and IB have also cancelled board examinations for class 10 students this year due to the pandemic situation.
