Unnao girls poisoned by a man whose advances were rejected by the eldest of the sisters: On Friday, the Uttar Pradesh police said to have solved the poisoning of three Dalit girls, two of whom died. According to the police, the main accused, a 28-year-old man, Vinay, along with a minor, confessed to having poisoned the three girls.
Police revealed that the reason behind these killings was Vinay’s one-sided love for the girl who is currently in critical condition at a hospital in Kanpur. Vinay allegedly wanted to poison only the eldest of the three, but the other two girls also ended up consuming the pesticide-laden water. The UP police arrested Vinay and his minor accomplice for the poisoning of the three teenage cousins. The arrests were made 24 hours after the bodies of girls were found in Babuhara village in the Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh.
As per reports, Vinay was a resident of an adjacent village (Pathakpur) and befriended the three girls during the lockdown. The trio often met in fields and spent time together eating and talking to each other. Vinay confessed to the police that he fell in love with one of the girls and subsequently proposed to her. However, the girl rejected Vinay and this left him fuming.
Vinay then went to meet the girl on the farm and took some snacks and a bottle of water along with him. He then allegedly offered the water to the girl he loved, not expecting the other two would share it. Once the girl drank the pesticide-laced water, her sisters took the bottle and drank from it. Soon after, the girls collapsed and foam started coming out from their mouths. Watching the three girls struggling to survive, Vinay and the minor reportedly fled the spot.
Police discovered a cigarette butt and an empty water bottle at the site where the girls were found unconscious. Vinay's phone location was tracked to the field at the time of the crime. The minor's involvement was discovered during the subsequent investigation.
Meanwhile, the family of the girls is at peace that the culprits are arrested, but they demand the accused to be hanged and suffer the way their daughters did. “Police have solved the case now. Because of Vinay, my sister is in the hospital and my cousins are dead. We want both the accused to suffer just like my niece did,” said the victim’s sister.
The three minor girls from Unnao were reportedly found unconscious in a field, after leaving the house to collect fodder for cattle. Two of the girls were declared after being taken to the hospital, while the third one remains in critical condition. Read more about it here.
